Sandy & Steve

Well, this is my story and I am sticking to it. My name is Steve and I live in Naples. FL in 2003 when I was about to turn 56 I decided I needed to take up a new sport .. something easy and fun ... so ice hockey it was ... LoL. I had never played ice hockey or ice skated, so I decided it best to go to camp to learn how to skate and play. I had played roller hockey for a few years so knew some hockey basics. Well. 2012 was year 10 for both ice hockey and Heartland Hockey Camp. What a wonderful experience this has been. I learned how to play ice hockey, improved my skills each year, and made new friends. And just to top things off this year there were four additional retired NHL players at camp to coach us. It would be next to impossible to beat that combination.

Steve Jensen coached my group the first several years and was exceptional. We did a drill the first day that required 24 backward was named Heartland's Hardest Corner which our group promptly re-named "The Death Star"...I did not know what a backward crossover was much less how to do one. Steve took me aside after the first ice session and personally taught me how to do the backward crossover. This is the type of personal attention you will receive at this one of a kind self contained camp. The camp is outstanding and well worth the time and money. That is probably why 50% to 60% of people who attend the adult camp have been there before and many of them multiple times.

One of the most important aspects of the camp is food and nutrition. Sandy Jensen supervises the food selection and preparation and I must say it is always outstanding with good nutrition along with plenty of fruits and vegetables. I have never left a meal still hungry.

If you are thinking about a hockey camp, you definitely should consider Heartland ... every year it has improved as you can see from their web site they continue to add new things

. A "Big Thanks" to Sandy and Steve for making this a "Most Outstanding' experience.
